Ron and Dorothy Curtis have been actively involved in production agriculture for 37 years with combined acreages in west and east central Illinois. Expansion into real estate occurred in 1993 with the development of RE/MAX Unified Brokers of Macomb by Ron and Dorothy as Broker/Owners. As of January 1, 2004, Ron and Dorothy sold their share of the RE/MAX franchise and developed their own appraisal/real estate company in addition to buying full ownership of the Curtis Farm operation of Sciota.

Along with their son, Grant, and his wife, Lindsey, they are producing row crops of corn and soybeans. In addition, Grant and Lindsey have expanded the operation with semi trucking for hire. Lindsey is also employed full time as a regional marketing coordinator and public relations representative for Advanced Rehab Services of West Central Illinois.

In 2002 Dorothy and Grant purchased a mini storage facility at the east edge of LaHarpe, IL. Curtis Storage now offers five sizes of units for month to month or longer storage.

On May 5, 2008 Curtis Appraisal and Real Estate Inc. opened a branch office at 435 West Jackson in Macomb. This expansion increased the Appraisal Team to include Ron Curtis, Deanna Crawford, and Luke Niekamp. These licensed appraisers have over 38 years of combined appraisal experience. Anna Galbraith brings eighteen years of experience in real estate and appraisal processing to the office as coordinator and receptionist. Dave Self, retired librarian of the Washington D.C. Hospital Center, serves as an office assistant.
